Standards and technology models work together to meet the storm of the Internet of Things
Release time:2019-12-11 Clicks:

The Internet of Things market is on the eve of the big explosion. In February of this year, Cisco announced the acquisition of IoT company Jasper for $ 1.4 billion. At the end of April, Cypress announced the acquisition of Broadcom's wireless IoT business for $ 550 million. Less than a week later, Microsoft announced the acquisition of Italian IoT platform Solair. The mergers and acquisitions of major companies on the Internet of Things are being carried out intensively. In 2015, there were more than 80 acquisitions of the Internet of Things around the world. This year, the acquisition of the Internet of Things has no meaning to stop.

The Internet of Things is becoming the next outlet. It is predicted that the Internet of Things market will exceed USD 1.7 trillion in 2020, and the global Internet of Things connection scale will reach 50 billion connections, of which 1/3 of the Internet-connected items will come from China. To meet the next air vent, we need to solve the closed and non-scale contradictions. China must do more with key technologies, standards, and applications in the Internet of Things.

Standard, technology, model

Working Together to Promote the Internet of Things

In the early morning of July 4, some people began to ask reporters in the WeChat group to participate in the upcoming "2016 International Open IoT Technology and Standards Summit and W3C World Wide Web Interest Group Meeting", because this conference is a fee, The world's top experts in the field of Internet of Things standards are gathered, including the World Wide Web inventors, W3C experts to Chinese academicians, the head of the National Standards Committee, and leading companies in the Internet of Things, the Internet, and intelligent hardware. The conference discussed the open architecture, standards, interconnection technology testing, and application landing of the Internet of Things. Authoritative, forward-looking, pragmatic, and globalization made this IoT standard conference a lot of attention.

Right now, the prospects of the Internet of Things are widely optimistic, but this market is still far from the time of the "storm". With regard to the Internet of Things, it seems that industry-oriented solutions are emerging endlessly, but most of them are still confined to this field, and real cross-domain equipment cannot be interconnected. This makes the solution and terminal equipment more customized and cannot be applied on a large scale. It also brings certain difficulties to the expansion and upgrade of the Internet of Things system. If the Internet of Things cannot solve these problems, it can only look beautiful.

There is no doubt that building an open technology and standard system is one of the key keys to meeting the "storm" of the Internet of Things. The open Internet of Things architecture will help promote the integration of services and data sharing in various industries, and improve the overall network capabilities. Promote new business models. Standards are the basis for the healthy development of the industry. More and more organizations form different alliances to promote standards, but so far there is still a lack of standards with absolute advantages and authority. How to better coordinate these standards to achieve interoperability has become a problem.

According to Alan Bir, W3C's Global Commercial Director, "Developing a common object description language can achieve interoperability. Today, each standard system defines its own" object ", which is an obstacle to achieving widespread interoperability. W3C Many standards and protocols have been successfully promoted on the Internet. These experiences have certain reference significance for the promotion of the standards of the Internet of Things. The W3C is a membership-driven, member-driven alliance. The more extensive the participation from the global Internet of Things industry, The more specific the requirements obtained, the stronger the standards will be, the better the industry's needs for interoperability will be, and the more it will be possible to define globally applicable IoT Web standards. "

In an interview with the China Electronics News, Ma Lin, president of the Information Science Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, said that in addition to standards, the promotion of the Internet of Things also needs to address the ability to interconnect and interoperate, open up industry barriers, innovate institutional mechanisms and industrial models problem. At the same time, it is also necessary to develop technologies with better ease of use and security, and to achieve the convenience of data feature extraction, which can reduce the difficulty of data sharing. At present, many industries are reluctant to share data. The important reason is that the data involves industry interests. In fact, not all industry data needs to be opened. Some data only needs to extract industry characteristics to generate application value. So from the dimension of technology, the dimension of model and the dimension of theoretical research, more innovative research is needed. Today's engineering research is very different from the past, especially with regard to the Internet of Things. Technology research is closely related to business models, mechanisms, and standards.

Regarding the Internet of Things, in addition to standards and technologies, in fact, the Internet of Things service is a dimension that should be more concerned. Data show that hardware products will no longer be the main source of profit in the future, and the output value from applications and services will account for 70% of the total output value of the Internet of Things, far exceeding the output value of semiconductors, communication technologies and cloud platforms.

China should be on the Internet of Things

Have more to do

In the next 10 years, the total value of the global Internet of Things industry will reach 8 trillion U.S. dollars, and the Internet of Things business will reach 30 times that of the Internet business, which will form another trillion-level market after the communication network. The Internet of Things has become a new economic growth point and will be the next "important productivity" to promote the rapid development of the world. One third of the world's Internet-connected items come from China. China should and must do more in the Internet of Things from standards, to key technologies, and applications.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of the Internet of Things industry and technology. Based on the establishment of a ministerial IoT joint conference system and the establishment of a national IoT expert advisory committee, the government has promoted the establishment of the China Internet of Things Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance (abbreviation). The alliance was initiated by 40 units recommended by 14 ministries and commissions of the IoT Ministry-level joint meeting, and China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "China Electronics Technology") is the chairman unit.

"In order to get rid of the situation that follows, we need to focus on the strategic rather than the tactical level, so we must have the courage to define the future direction of the industry," said Zhu Decheng, the secretary-general of the Alliance, in an interview with China Electronics News.

There is no doubt that defining the market at a higher strategic level must have international voice at the standard level. On January 26, 2016, the application for the "Internet of Things Object Description Requirements" standard project initiated by the Information Technology Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation and China Unicom passed the review of the ITU SG20 plenary meeting and became an ITU standardization project. It will lead the development of the international IoT object description standards and will affect the future international IoT industry pattern. The adoption of this standard project is also a victory for all members of the alliance to form a joint win on the international standardization battlefield. At the same time, the Institute of Information Science successfully introduced related technologies in the open architecture of the Internet of Things into the W3C's Web of Things related standard formulation, and the internationalization process of China's Internet of Things standards continued to accelerate.

Standards cannot be separated from the support of key technologies, and the same is true for the Internet of Things. The open architecture of the Internet of Things proposed by China Electronics Technology Group Corporation in 2012. Starting from the entire network, it innovatively proposed the concept of interconnected capabilities, skillfully translated the idea of the World Wide Web architecture to the Internet of Things, and resolved the object description and object identification analysis. And object management, the three key issues, make everything easy to access the Internet and achieve manageability. Since then, China Electronics Technology has promoted the research and development of the IoT common platform technology. Since then, international peers have started to pay attention to the IoT common platform technology. It should be said that in this dimension, China Electronics Technology R & D is a company that started earlier and achieved breakthroughs earlier.

The Internet of Things is a science of practice, so pushing applications to the ground is especially critical. "In the 21st century, the global economy looks at China's urbanization. China has the world's largest real estate stock and incremental market, and real estate ownership and IoT application scenario resources and intelligent hardware efficiently integrate Party A's advantages. The Internet of Things is able to inject into the real estate industry ' Based on these factors, we have chosen to promote the 'Internet of Local Products' to promote the development of China's Internet of Things. "Beijing Wuliangang Technology Development Co., Ltd. Chairman of the board, China Internet of Things Cai Hongyan, the director of the Urban Construction Committee of the Technology Innovation Strategic Cooperation Alliance of the Internet Industry, described the reasons why he wanted to "real estate + Internet of Things" in an interview with a reporter from China Electronics News.

IOT Port has created the "E-Link Port" model of IOT + Real Estate. This model leverages the open architecture platform of the Internet of Things research and development developed by China Electronics Technology Group to promote the application in conjunction with many real estate developers, and smart hardware manufacturers and professional solution providers to propose IoT smart home and smart community solutions to further promote the real estate community and Landed in office properties. This model has a top-level design from top to bottom, and integrates users and suppliers well. Once this model is launched, it is favored by the industry.

Marin said that China is vigorously promoting industrial upgrading, consumption upgrading, and economic transformation. From the perspective of the application of the Internet of Things, China has more vigorous demand. According to Marin, smart cities and the real estate industry will be the areas where the Internet of Things will land relatively quickly.
